Undergraduate School and Major: Southern Utah University - Biology
Medical School: University of Utah
Life/professions/adventures prior to attending medical school: I was born and raised in Boise, Idaho where I grew up loving the outdoors. I come from a big family where I am the first in medicine and also the first to leave the Mountain West. I met and married the love of my life in college, and together we have two beautiful children. We will celebrate our 7 year anniversary this summer. My daughter is turning 4 years old and my son is about 6 months old. You can often catch us playing outside together with our dog.
Interests / Hobbies: I love all things outdoors, mostly day hiking with the family these days. We also enjoy camping, paddle boarding, days at the beach, and traveling when we can.
Favorite Food: Surf & Turf, of course. Also down for tacos anytime.
Restaurant Recommendation: Luke’s Lobster is iconic on the pier with AMAZING lobster rolls. My wife also loves Duck Fat which is a great little spot when it’s not too busy.
Favorite TV Show or Movie: Show - The Office, Movie - Top Gun
What book do you recommend to others and why:
Best Arts Experience: My wife is a ballerina, so she provided me with all the culture I possess.
Favorite Hike or Ski trail: My favorite hike in Maine is definitely Precipice Trail in Acadia National Park.
Favorite Beach (doesn’t have to be in Maine): I really enjoy the short hike via Morse Mountain to Seawall Beach. A little more secluded than most beaches.
Celebrity I most resemble: People have told me that I look like Daniel Craig. But that’s a stretch IMO…
Craziest / Best / Worst Job: My Best / Worst job was in college. I worked as a maintenance guy all through school which taught me a bunch but was also miserable much of the time.
If I weren’t a doctor I would be: Retired.
Medical Interests: Still deciding what I want to be when I grow up… I enjoy so many aspects of EM including ultrasound, wilderness medicine, etc. I do have a passion for rural, underserved medicine which I plan to pursue.
Personal Goals: Visit all the national parks, see the wonders of the world, and perform a perfect cartwheel.
Why MMC: What’s not to love about Maine Med? The training is top-tier, the faculty & residents are first-rate, and Portland is a wonderful place to live. I couldn’t be happier with my choice to join the family at MMC!
