Hometown: Woodinville, WA (45 minutes NE of Seattle)
Undergrad: Seattle Pacific University
Med School: Tufts Maine Track
Favorite Food: Burritos. All the burritos. With so much hot sauce that I develop 3-4 symptoms of angina.
Favorite Beach: A quick glance at any of my photos will prove more than 10 minutes at a beach results in lobster-like skin tone, so I'm more into tree-cover than beaches. Nevertheless, I love Cannon Beach, OR (lots of clouds) and taking a dip in the ocean after running around Mackworth island here in Portland, ME.
Favorite Hike: Traveler's loop in the north part of Baxter State Park (the crown jewel of Maine). Everybody goes to the park to hike Katahdin, but if you ask the rangers, this is where they all go. 8 hours, 5 separate peaks with great views, and most days you won't see a single other person.
Closest brush with a famous person: When I was 5 years old, the now head-coach of the Seattle Sounders, Brian Schmetzer, gave me an award for my efforts at a soccer camp. Really regret not signing a pro contract then.
Why MMC: Having spent a lot of med school here with the Maine Track, I was overwhelmed by the approachability of faculty and the collaborative feel amongst residents. I was also looking for a program that was "efficient" in that when I was at work, I would be learning as much as possible per hour on shift and enjoying my life as much as possible per hour off. (Plus, my wife is a med student here, which I suppose is kinda important ;)
