Undergraduate School and Major: University of Kansas, BA in Human Biology
Medical School: University of Kansas
Life/professions/adventures prior to attending medical school: I was a CNA in a medical telemetry unit for one year between undergraduate and medical school. It instilled me with an enormous level of respect for every member of the healthcare team.
Interests / Hobbies: Cooking, movies, golfing, water skiing, snowboarding.
Favorite Food: Green Thai Curry
Favorite Ski Trail: Peak 10, Breckenridge, Colorado
Favorite Beach (doesn’t have to be in Maine): I come from Kansas, so I’m pretty novice on the beach front. My favorites are probably Newport and Laguna Beach.
Closest brush with a famous person: Jason Sudekis and Paul Rudd went to my high school. (Although they may have been15-20 years ahead of me).
Why MMC: The people, the program philosophy, and the city of Portland really sold me on MMC! When I came to visit I found that all of the aspects of what I was looking for in a residency really came together. It was the happiest, most laidback group of residents and faculty that I came across on the trail. Working in a community ED that serves as the only tertiary care and level one trauma center in the state provides an incredible training opportunity. Lastly, what more could you ask for in a city? It’s got beaches, it’s close to mountains, there is an abundance of incredible outdoor activities, and one of the best food and beer scenes you’re likely to find.
