Undergrad: Brigham Young University
Med School: Tufts - Maine Track
Favorite Movie: Planes 2: Fire and Rescue. Seriously, it’s awesome. I don’t care that it’s geared toward 5 year olds. Don’t knock it until you’ve watched it
Favorite Ski Trail: The carriage roads in Acadia are groomed for XC skiing in the winter, they’re amazing
Closest brush with a famous person: None ever. Thanks, this questionnaire helps me realize how boring I am.
Celebrity I most resemble: A few patients have told me I look like Gronk. It’s probably my physique.
Craziest / Best / Worst Job: I was a wildland firefighter for 4 years before med school, and it was awesome. Amazingly hard work, but I had some crazy and great experiences, from taking a helicopter around the beautiful New Mexico forests to being in a truck that was hit by a tornado of fire. I spent most of my 4 years of med school wishing I was still outside all day, fighting fire….
Personal Goals: Be a good husband, father, and doctor, in that order.
Favorite Place in Maine: Acadia/ Bar Harbor. They only have a spot for 1 ED doc at the hospital there, and I want it!
Why MMC: Great people, laid-back atmosphere, neat patient population and variety, and the chance to stay in Maine. It has the feel of a nice community hospital, but we get sent any interesting patient from anywhere in Maine or part of NH, so it’s a great mix of community and academic medicine.
