Undergraduate School and Major: Dartmouth College, BA in Biology and Psychology
Medical School: Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth
Life/professions/adventures prior to attending medical school: My professional career started way back when I was 14 working in the checkout at my local Market Basket (supermarket) in Lowell, MA. Most recently, I have volunteered/worked as an EMT for almost a decade now in various settings including collegiate EMS and a rural 911 service covering 9 towns in VT/NH. I spent a year before medical school completing a teaching fellowship in the Biology Department at Dartmouth, as well as a summer teaching internship at St. Paul's School during undergrad. One of my favorite "jobs" was volunteering as the safety lead at the Moosilauke Ravine Lodge during Dartmouth's outdoor trips program.
Interests / Hobbies: Cooking, camping, card/board games, coffee, Boston sports, traveling, being a tourist in my own backyard, exploring covered bridges and lighthouses.
Favorite Food: I'll cheat and vaguely say Mediterranean (Italian, Greek, Turkish... can't go wrong).
Restaurant Recommendation: The Inn on Peaks Island. Eating on the porch at sunset. Truly divine.
Favorite TV Show or Movie: The Office (minus Michael Scott's CPR skills).
What book do you recommend to others and why: When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi. Some pretty powerful messages both for those heading into medicine as well as the entire population.
Favorite Hike or Ski trail: Cadillac Mountain at Acadia, but hot take - sunset is better (and less crowded) than sunrise.
Favorite Beach (doesn’t have to be in Maine): Narragansett Beach in RI (it's south of Cape Cod, so it is actually warm(ish)). Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur is also spectacular.
If I weren’t a doctor I would be: Probably a paramedic, owning/running a restaurant (maybe a diner?), with some component of teaching in there somewhere.
Medical Interests: EMS, Critical Care, MedEd, POCUS, community preparedness
Personal Goals: Develop as a compassionate, knowledgable, and skilled physician. Continue growing my chosen family. Finding the best coffee and beer in the greater Portland area.
Favorite Place in Maine: Acadia is a truly breathtaking place.
Why MMC: I had the honor of doing my away rotation here, and I fell in love. From the supportive, collaborative work/learning environment to the "doers not callers" experience, this program is truly special. As an added bonus, I get to round out my Northern New England experience and explore all that the beautiful state of Maine has to offer.
