Closest brush with a famous person: I was urinal neighbors with Bill Murray in the bathroom of a restaurant in Austin during SWSW. He started singing “Doo Wah Diddy Diddy”, looked over at me and said, “no one will ever believe you” and then walked out.
Why MMC: I did a rotation here as a fourth-year medical student and fell in love with the program by the end of the month. The faculty and residents are extremely welcoming and down to earth people who show a lot of interest in teaching as well as finding enjoyment in their lives both in and out of the hospital. Due to the fewer subspecialties at MMC, the program offers a unique opportunity in providing a lot of hands on experience which was something that I placed a lot of value on when looking at programs. Portland is also an awesome city with access to the ocean, mountains and everything in-between which makes it a great place to live for taking advantage of all four seasons.
