Undergraduate School and Major: Colby College, BA in Biology
Medical School: Tufts University School of Medicine, Maine Track
Life/professions/adventures prior to attending medical school: I worked for several years as a Unit Clerk and ED Tech at York Hospital Emergency Department in York, Maine. That experience was fantastic and so important to who I've become. I gained mentors, close friends, and my love of emergency medicine at York ED! Prior to that, I worked at my local farm stand (Chase Farms in Wells, Maine - I wasn't a Chase at the time, but married into the family later on!) for many years as a kid. That experience instilled in me the value of hard work, and made me an impressively fast corn husker.
Favorite Food: I am a lover of potatoes in all forms: baked, mashed, fried, you name it.
Favorite Beach (doesn’t have to be in Maine): Goose Rocks in Kennebunk, Maine is beautiful!
If I weren’t a doctor I would be: If I weren't a doctor I would be a middle school health teacher!
Medical Interests: Medical Education, Women's Health and Obstetric Emergencies, Social Medicine, Health Advocacy for Survivors of Domestic Violence
Why MMC: MMC EM was my first choice of residency program! I grew up in southern Maine, attended undergrad in Maine, completed nearly all my clinical training at MMC, and rotated in the MMC ED as a fourth year medical student. My love for my home community and my desire to stay close to my family motivated me to stay in Maine. The fantastic mentors and residents in the ED along with the culture of teamwork and support at MMC as a whole drew me to stay here. I hope to work in the community post residency - though I feel my training in the ED will prepare me well to work in any environment.
