Undergraduate School and Major: University of Maine, B.S. in Biology
Medical School: Tufts University School of Medicine, Maine Track Program
Life/professions/adventures prior to attending medical school: Shark and stingray wrangler in The Bahamas!
Interests / Hobbies: Boating, swimming, scuba diving (not so much in Maine waters), basketball, disc golf, hiking, breweries, and exploring new areas in Maine!
Favorite Food: Pizza - the best pizza is from Maine Beer Company!
Restaurant Recommendation: Terlingua - the BBQ and outdoor seating in the summer makes you forget you're in the city!
Favorite TV Show or Movie: The Office and Breaking Bad.
What book do you recommend to others and why: The Old Man and the Sea - a classic, quick read. Plus, it features sharks.
Best Arts Experience: I grew up listening to classic rock while lobstering with my father, so seeing Def Leppard for my first concert was an amazing experience!
Favorite Hike or Ski trail: Ovens Mouth Preserve in Boothbay.
Favorite Beach (doesn’t have to be in Maine): Lighthouse Beach on Eleuthera in The Bahamas!
Closest brush with a famous person: Johnny Damon sat behind me at my favorite brewery (shoutout to Boothbay Craft Brewery)!
Celebrity I most resemble: I was once told I look like Eminem. Have you ever seen me and him in the same room? Just saying.
Craziest / Best / Worst Job: I've been very fortunate to have some amazing jobs before starting medical school, such as lobstering, oyster farming, and studying sharks and stingrays in The Bahamas!
If I weren’t a doctor I would be: I would either still be working in marine science or a professional wrestler. Either, or.
Medical Interests: Point-of-care ultrasound, wilderness medicine, sports medicine, and austere emergency medicine.
Personal Goals: I aspire to be an emergency physician in a rural emergency department in Maine. This is how I strive to serve my community by becoming a resource in an under-resourced setting.
Favorite Place in Maine: Ocean Point in East Boothbay.
Why MMC: Community. There is a strong sense of community, camaraderie, and dedication to service among everyone in the emergency department. Everyone is here because this is their true passion, and it shows. This creates a small town feel in an otherwise larger city setting, which is exactly what I was looking for in a residency program.
